It’s not just me that misses the great ol’ days of jokes on Jay Leno, but David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel really, really, really miss those days! When Conan O’Brien got booted off his time slot on NBC, and Jay Leno’s chin moved back in, Letterman and Kimmel had plenty to joke about on their shows! It was a good month of laughter! I am Pro Dave n Jimmy all the way!!!
In this video, Kimmel was a guest on the Letterman show, and they discussed how they don’t want the jokes on Jay to ever end! Watch!
Robert Joel Halderman, the CBS News producer who tried to blackmail David Letterman, made a plea deal today that landed him 6 months in Jail time, 1000 hours of community service and 4 1/2 years probation. Also as part of the deal Halderman must stay away from Letterman for 5 years.
Admitting to attempted grand larceny, Halderman, said he wanted to “put the ordeal behind him” even though his attorney said all along the case would go to trial.
Halderman’s former girlfriend was Letterman’s assistant and apparently his secret lover too, a relationship that made Halderman furious. He then concocting a plan to get even with Letterman by exposing him as a lecher. Halderman contacted Letterman threatening to release a screenplay that depicted the Late Night host in numerous compromising situations, sexual situations. He also wanted $2 million dollars.
On Tuesday night, Letterman said on air that the ordeal had made him feel “full of anxiety and nervous and worried.” He then thanked the district attorney’s office and New York Police Department for handling the matter “professionally, skillfully and appropriately.”
Last night, we went to a Tony Bennett concert at the Las Vegas Hilton! I love Tony Bennett, but my Grandma loved him even more! I was the youngest person at the concert, but I might have been the most excited. I’m one of those emotional people who get so happy that they cry! I was searching for tissues in the dark! LOL!
Tony Bennett is such a big legend. He is the last player still performing from the era of the Frank Sinatra pack. Tony even mentioned that Frank Sinatra was his best friend in show business. Tony also mentioned that he doesn’t really like today’s music, he still likes to listen and sing music from the good old days. Tony was singing songs from the 1930’s! The old time songs are so interesting to me, they all last about 1 minute! Just when it sounds like the song has started, it’s already over! Hey, it keeps your attention I guess!
Tonight, on the David Letterman Late Show, David read a rude story in the NY Times newspaper that quoted this about him:
“David Letterman and Conan O’Brien are chicken-hearted and gutless”, said NBC Universal Sports Chairman Dick Ebersol, defending Jay Leno from the non-stop jokes that keep coming from David and Conan.
David’s hilarious response to the silly quote was:
“I can’t speak for Conan…but I do it because it’s fun. I’m enjoying making fun of Leno”.
Poor Conan! Wrapped in the middle of the the chaos! Dave is funny though, we love him here at ThecounT!
Okay, so we know David Letterman is getting some serious criticism right now! But hey, he’s a player and well, sometimes players pay! Let’s face it, Dave puts on a good show and in the end it’s all about the entertainment.
We weren’t aware that people were under the impression Matt Damon had died in the Palos Verdes fires. Rumors started after a fake article was released in which the writer cited TMZ as a source to lend it more credibility. David Letterman questioned the star about this rumor when Matt was a guest on his show.
According to Matt , “I haven’t heard, but I feel pretty good.”
It’s always good to get reminders from celebrities that they are still alive.
This photo of the hot boys was taken on top of NYC’s Ed Sullivan theater. There is something I love about David Letterman and Regis Philbin when they are together. It’s like a crush I have on the duo. I just love em’ together!!!!! Great photo!
Britney Spears is set to appear on the David Letterman show tonight, Tuesday! Britney will be reading off the ‘Top Ten’ list for the show. Watch at 11:35 p.m. PT/ET.
Wonder if she has any other things planned while visiting the show. A surprise performance? Pleaseeee!!!
Britney, Madonna and Drew Barrymore are always the best on David Letterman!
David Letterman has beatenConan O’Brien in the ratings again. Last week, The Late Show with David Letterman beat The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brienby more than 800,000 viewers. This is Letterman’s best run since 2000 when he recovered from heart surgery. He’s had a great guest list, including Sacha Baron Cohen and, most recently, Paul McCartney. Also, his publicized feud with Gov. Sarah Palin boosted his ratings even more. Things have really been going well for Mr. Letterman.
Not that Conan’s doing poorly. He is well-received by the critics and seems to be keeping his fanbase intact. Indeed, Conan is cleaning up when it comes to the coveted 18-49 age demographic. That means that while my dad watches Letterman, I’m watching Conan. As we all know, advertisers are constantly aiming to attract young viewers so NBC is quite happy with Conan’s ratings. Of course, I’m sure they’d like to be number one.
A little late night competition never hurt anybody. For viewers, it’s a win-win either way. David Letterman is hilarious and an obvious influence on Conan O’Brien, who delivers great comedy night after night. As a late night viewer, I’m happy with both shows. We can all exist in harmony! Still, it’s fascinating to watch this little back and forth ratings battle.
