DEKALB COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Alex Brooks Hilyer, of Fort Payne, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash in DeKalb County.
Hilyer, 40, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Collinsville Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, Hilyer was operating a Ford Escape on Alabama 176 east of Collinsville, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes before coming into head-on contact with a Toyota 4Runner around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The operator of the Toyota and a passenger were transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
Hilyer was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
