Who can forget the lady who walked off a pier while texting? In this latest IQ test, we find a 16-year-old California girl who literally walked into a den of live rattlesnakes allegedly searching for cellphone reception.
Vera Oliphant, went off the beaten-path searching for cell service in a wooded area of San Diego, “I ran backward and stepped into a pit of snakes,” said Oliphant, “My body instantly started going numb.”
She was struck and hit once by mama rattlesnake and then at least six more times by five baby rattlers!
After the attack, Vera somehow made her way back home, she was rushed to the hospital by her uncle.
It took an amazing 24 vials of anti-venom to neutralize the toxins running through her veins. Needless to say, the girl is very lucky just to be alive, but recovery has been slow and painful, “The doctors told me that I need two to three months to completely recover from the bites. But I will feel a weird sensation when stepping on my right leg for years,” she told the local News.
So what if anything did Vera take from the ordeal? “If you’re in the desert, for one, wear boots. And two, don’t bring your cellphone or go searching for reception, because you probably won’t find it anyways. And you might step into a pit of rattlesnakes.”
