Country artist Shania Twain is going to celebrity guest judge on American Idol! She will sit alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi at the judge’s table for two days of auditions in Chicago this week.
Other guest celebrities that we are looking forward to seeing on the next AI season are Katy Perry, Victoria Beckham, and Mary J. Blige.

We might not get Paula Abdul but we’ll definitely get a whole lot of Simon Cowell.
Robert Sillerman, CEO of 19 Entertainment parent company CKX, let it slip yesterday that Fox is expecting Simon back for not one, not two but three more seasons of the hit reality competition.
“We’ve heard from Fox, who has asked us for approval for Simon Cowell to appear for three more years on ‘Idol,’” Sillerman said, later adding that nothing should stand in the way of Cowell’s return. Word is that Simon will pull in $45 million for the new deal. Not too shabby.
There was no word on any other new guest judges scheduled to replace Abdul.

American Idol Victoria Beckham
NY Daily News reports:
Victoria “Posh” Beckham says she’s “beyond excited” at being an “American Idol” judge. In fact, Victoria, 35, even says her joy is ruining her usual miserable persona.
“When I got the phone call, I just couldn’t believe it,” the former Spice Girl told Ryan Seacrest in an interview on his radio show. “I feel like I got the best job that there is. I’m still grinning from ear to ear.
“I’m going to try hard to pout and not shatter the illusion that I’m a moody cow, but I don’t know if I can – I’m just so happy,” she said.
London’s Daily Mail reports that the mother-of-three will appear in one episode of series nine of the show for a rumoured $219,000 fee.
Her first scenes at the call back auditions of the show were filmed at a hotel in Denver Friday.
Wearing a purple strapless gown, she shook hands with fans on her way in.

Some things never change
Even though Paula Abdul had been with American Idol since day one, she was offered much less in salary then that of her fellow workmates, both whom are male.
Abdul’s asking price was $12 Million, however, it was “no dice” from Idol brass, in stark contrast to Ryan Seacrest, who recently inked a new deal for over $45 Million plus other incentives, while Simon Cowel is reportedly making at least $100 Million a year also with heavy incentives.
A lot of mud was slung as to why Abdul is leaving the popular singing competition that she helped make famous, but when you look at the facts, it comes down to dollars and cents, men are paid dollars and women are often paid cents.

Sasha Baron Cohen’s movie, “Bruno” went to places no other movie has gone before, or more accurately, places no other movie ever wanted to go. And now that the light has dimmed on the box office, we are all left wondering, is Cohen the World’s best con man?
When all is said and done, Cohen will have offended, angered, embarrassed, ridiculed and degraded countless people. And now you can add the World’s most prominent men to that list.
Cohen’s run and gun filming technique rarely informs his unwitting cast that the “joke is on them,” so making friends is certainly not on Cohen’s to-do list. But it’s the voluntary participation of, Bono, Sting, Elton John and rocker, Slash, in “Bruno,” that has left many scratching their heads, wondering,” why’d they do it?”
Who duped these musical giants to stoop to this level? Becoming forever attached to Cohen’s cinema buffoonery? I think it is safe to say; the aforementioned musical icons deserve to be forever, thoroughly embarrassed.

Here are some upcoming stories to count on for Monday, July 27:
- Guinea pigs beat Harry Potter! Guinea pigs! How much money did G Force really make and how far did Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince fall? We’ll find out later today when the concrete numbers come out. But make sure to put your money on the guinea pigs.
Contract negotiations are still underway with Paula Abdul. The big question is will she return to American Idol next season? Fox may not be publicly speaking about the negotiations but they are definitely underway. I think Paula will come back and I think the announcement will be soon. We’ll find out.
- Comic Con made a lot of news this weekend. Expect a bunch of summations and follow-ups today. Personally, I really want to see the Iron Man 2 footage that was shown.

News of late has been swirling about Paula Abdul possibly not returning to the new season of American Idol. As our writer Monica reported, Paula’s manager David Sonenberg told Los Angeles Times that “Paula has yet to receive a proposal for her return.” Sonenberg also said, “Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on Idol.”
Maybe Kara DioGuardi was brought in last season to ween Paula out the door. Is the judging table too crowded for 4? I remember at the end of last season, there were “timing issues” with trying to fit all 4 judges in for their individual evaluations on the contestants. Were the producers preparing us for Paula’s push out?
