RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Michael Ray Cranford, of Asheboro, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a fatal vehicle crash Thursday in Randolph County.
“Mike” Cranford, 69, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Asheboro Thursday night.
According to reports, Cranford was operating a black Mitsubishi Montero on Bell Simmons Road near U.S. 220 Business south in Asheboro, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 10 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle then came into contact with a grouping of trees and burst into flames.
Cranford, who was ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead of injuries suffered in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
