LUMBERTON, NC. (THECOUNT) — Jason Quick has been identified as the Lumberton police officer killed after being struck by a vehicle while investigating a traffic crash on Saturday morning.
Quick, whose age was not provided, was investigating a traffic crash on Interstate 95, in Lumberton, NC, at 6:10 a.m. Saturday, when he was struck by a vehicle before 7 a.m.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with a vehicle collision.
While investigating the crash, Quick was hit at 6:53. He was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he died. source
No other information on the fatal incident was made available by officials.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Robeson County District Attorney’s Office are leading an ongoing investigation.
