FOREST VIEW, IL. (THECOUNT) — Traivon Hemingway has been identified as the Lynwood man who died in a crash Tuesday on Interstate 55.
Hemingway, 21, was operating a van in the southbound lanes of I-55 around 10:30 a.m. near the Harlem Avenue exit in Forest View, when he veered in to the path of two trucks, according to Illinois State Police.
According to a preliminary investigation, Hemingway’s van was in the middle lane approaching the Harlem exit when his vehicle veered into the far right lane and shoulder in an apparent attempt to exit, but in the process struck a utility semi-trailer and rear-ended a semi stopped due to a mechanical problem, police said. source
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
