Audrey O’Day Clears Up Hitler/Castro Comments

    Audrey ODay

    Audrey O'Day

Apparently people get a little upset when you call Fidel Castro and Adolf Hitler “brilliant”.  Who knew?

Former Danity Kane singer Audrey O’Day appeared on Sean Hannity’s show this weekend and did just that.  In her words: “I’m not defending [Castro's] behavior in many instances, but I do have to say that I will 100 percent agree he’s an incredibly brilliant man.”

How could she make it worse?  Oh, saying the same thing about Hitler might do it.  Listen, I don’t condone Hitler one ounce, but yes, he was a brilliant man. Can you guys say that he wasn’t? He ran a country and convinced everyone of horrible things.” Smooth movie, O’Day.

Luckily O’Day publicists were quick and had her release this statement to MTV News:

Murderers and dictators generally are some of the smartest people out there — they just use their brain power for evil purposes,” O’Day said. ”I don’t condone any of their evil behavior, but I was asked about their intellectual firepower … and in my opinion you can’t have a low IQ and wreak that much havoc on the world. What Hitler succeeded in doing was deplorable. And I hope we never see such an abusive use of power again.

    Fans, Colleagues Remember Ted Kennedy

    Edward Ted Kennedy

    Edward "Ted" Kennedy

Ted Kennedy, a senator who was truly one of the most popular, most accomplished men in his profession, passed away last night.  He was the last of the Kennedy brothers, an elder statesman and a legend in American politics.  While not a celebrity per se, his impact on this country is massive.  Accordingly, his colleagues and fans are sending their support to the Kennedy family at this time.

    Some choice reactions:

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger: “Maria and I are immensely saddened by the passing of Uncle Teddy. He was known to the world as the Lion of the Senate, a champion of social justice, and a political icon.  Most importantly, he was the rock of our family: a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a man of great faith and character.”

George H.W. Bush: “Ted Kennedy was a seminal figure in the United States Senate – a leader who answered the call to duty for some 47 years, and whose death closes a remarkable chapter in that body’s history.”

Sarah Palin:  I would like to extend our sympathies to the Kennedy family as we hear word about the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy. He believed in our country and fought passionately for his convictions.”

Don Hewitt, Creator of “60 Minutes”, Dead at 86

    Don Hewitt

    Don Hewitt

Another important political television figure has passed away.  Don Hewitt, the man who created the legendary news program and also crafted political news coverage, has died at age 86.  Hewitt is also credited as the director of the first television presidential debate, being between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.  In fact, it was Hewitt who advises Mr. Nixon to apply make-up.  Nixon refused and the end result, as we all know, was a rather ill and nervous looking candidate.  Many say it was his appearance in that debate that cost him the election.

Hewitt was an executive at CBS News, where he worked on 60 Minutes until about five years ago.  His work ranged from politics to other news events, including assassinations, weddings and the like.

60 Minutes is one of the longest running and most successful news programs in history.

Why? Tom DeLay set for “Dancing with the Stars”

    Tom DeLay, dancing sensation

    Tom DeLay, dancing sensation

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has been confirmed as one of the new cast members of Dancing with the Stars.  DeLay was the House Majority Leader from 2003 to 2005.  He resigned in 2006 for allegedly breaking campaign-finance laws.  Throughout his career, the Republican was referred to as “The Hammer” because of his ability to…well, I guess hammer bills into laws?  Whatever the reason, he was loathed by the opposition party.

I don’t get it.  I guess DeLay is a celebrity (and alleged felon) but he doesn’t seem the dancing type.  Also, he doesn’t even seem like the type to watch Dancing with the Stars.  I guess ABC knows something I don’t.  Maybe Tom can really cut a rug.

DeLay will be joined by Macy Gray, Kelly Osbourne, Donny Osmond and others.  The show starts September 21.

    Alec Baldwin: Ohio’s Next Governor?

    Ohios next governor?

    Ohio's next governor?

We all know Alec Baldwin is a political guy but could he be the next governor of Ohio?

That’s what a group of lawyers from the state are hoping.  They recently sent him a letter asking him to move to Ohio and run in the Democratic Party primaries.  They would like to start his oft-rumored political career in 2012.  Baldwin has said that he intends to retire from acting that year and has also said that, when it comes to getting into politics, “the desire is there.”

I really like Alec Baldwin and think he’s a smart guy.  But does he have what it takes to be a politician?  Hey, stranger things have happened.  Just ask Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Heidi and Spencer: 9/11 was an “inside job”

    Conspiracy theorists

    Conspiracy theorists

Wow, these two just don’t stop, do they?

America’s favorites, Heidi and Spencer Pratt, were on Alex Jones’ radio show earlier this week and were talking politics.  Great.  Among the nuggets of nonsense they spewed:

    • 9/11 was an “inside job”
    • They’ve been online, doing research about President Obama “nonstop”.  Obviously, they’re not big fans of him.
    • Heidi is “scared” of birth control.  Personally, I’m scared of her not taking it.
    • The existence of global warming is “mind boggling”

They went on to talk about microchips being planted into peoples’ brains as well.  Weird, huh?  They also talk about Spencer’s upcoming rap album, which will be titled Infowars.

I wasn’t able to find an actual recording of the interview so if anyone does, shoot me an email.  Hop over here to read more about this insightful and confusing interview.

Shia Says It’s Hard To Not Be With Megan Fox

“We have a relationship on screen but off-screen we are just good friends. You have to create these boundaries and be as respectful as you can. What’s hard for me is to go from a scene back to reality and then back to boundaries. It’s hard. It’s really hard.”

I don’t think he can say “hard” enough there…
