According to Cincinnati Police, a 51-year-old man was driving a Cadillac Escalade northbound on Interstate 75 when he lost control of the vehicle and struck Martin and a 34-year-old woman who were standing outside their vehicle for reasons that have not been publicly disclosed.

Emergency responders with Cincinnati Fire and EMS arrived at the scene and performed life-saving measures on both victims before transporting them to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Martin was later pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The second victim, a 34-year-old woman, remains hospitalized with serious injuries, according to police officials.

The crash occurred on Interstate 75 North near the Hopple Street interchange, a heavily traveled corridor that runs through the western side of downtown Cincinnati. I-75 is one of the primary north–south interstate highways in the United States, extending from the Great Lakes region through Ohio and continuing south toward Florida.

Within the Cincinnati metropolitan area, Interstate 75 serves as a major commuter and freight route, carrying significant traffic volumes through Hamilton County and connecting downtown Cincinnati with northern suburbs and regional distribution corridors. The Hopple Street exit area is part of a complex interchange system that includes connections to local streets, ramps, and elevated roadway segments.

The stretch of I-75 where the crash occurred is located near densely developed urban infrastructure, including residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and transportation access points. Traffic conditions in this corridor are often influenced by merging lanes, ramp configurations, and high-volume interstate flow, particularly during overnight hours when commercial and long-distance travel continues through the region.

Cincinnati Police reported that the investigation is ongoing. Officials have not released additional information regarding why the two individuals were outside their vehicle at the time of the incident.

The driver of the Cadillac Escalade remained at the scene following the crash. Authorities have not announced any charges or citations related to the incident as of Sunday.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office is responsible for confirming victim identities and determining official cause and manner of death following fatal incidents in the county. Additional examinations and investigative steps are typically conducted in coordination with law enforcement agencies.

Interstate 75 North was impacted for a period of time following the crash as police and emergency crews worked to secure the scene, provide medical aid, and document evidence. Traffic in the area was affected while investigators processed the roadway.

Cincinnati Fire and EMS routinely respond to high-speed interstate incidents throughout the city, particularly along major corridors such as I-75, I-71, and I-74, which intersect within the Cincinnati metropolitan region. These roadways collectively form a critical transportation network for both local and interstate travel.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the condition of the driver or any additional occupants who may have been involved in the crash.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
