NY Man Hilton Spokony ID’d As Victim In Thursday North Patchogue Fatal Crash

NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY. (THECOUNT) — Hilton Spokony, 45, has been identified as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash Thursday night in North Patchogue, New York.

According to Suffolk County police, the collision occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Waverly Avenue and Buckley Road.

Investigators said Meredith Hill, 79, of East Patchogue, was operating a vehicle southbound on Waverly Avenue and attempting to turn left onto eastbound Buckley Road when the vehicle collided with a northbound 2016 Dodge Ram.

Authorities said the Dodge Ram was being driven by Michael Aulivola, 55, of Holtsville.

Spokony, an East Patchogue resident who was a passenger in Hill’s vehicle, sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was transported to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in Patchogue, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hill was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries described by police as non-life-threatening.

Aulivola was also taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash occurred in North Patchogue, a hamlet in Suffolk County on Long Island. The community is situated east of New York City and is connected by a network of county and state roadways serving residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and nearby communities.

Waverly Avenue is a major north-south roadway in the Patchogue area and carries local and regional traffic through portions of central Suffolk County. Buckley Road provides access to residential and commercial areas within the community.

East Patchogue, where both Spokony and Hill resided, is located adjacent to North Patchogue and forms part of the greater Patchogue area along Long Island’s South Shore.

Following the crash, Suffolk County police secured the scene and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Authorities said both vehicles involved in the crash were impounded for safety inspections and further examination.
