LA Woman Taniya Smith ID’d As Driver In Wednesday West Baton Rouge Fatal Crash

WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Taniya Smith, 24, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was killed late Wednesday night in a crash along LA 1 northbound near the Intracoastal Waterway in West Baton Rouge Parish, according to authorities.

The fatal crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday south of the Intracoastal Waterway near the OYO Motel and RaceTrac along LA 1.

Deputies with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after receiving reports of a serious vehicle crash along the northbound lanes of the highway.

Authorities identified Smith as the driver involved in the deadly collision.

Officials have not yet released details regarding the circumstances that led up to the crash.

No additional vehicles or injured parties were immediately identified by investigators.

Emergency crews responded to the scene late Wednesday night as deputies secured the area and began documenting evidence.
