According to Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker, the crash occurred Monday at approximately 5 p.m. along Route 40 in Uniontown, located in Fayette County in the southwestern region of the state near the West Virginia border.
Officials say Glover, who was a beloved Smithfield Youth League softball coach, was operating a motorcycle when it collided with a passenger vehicle under circumstances that have not yet been fully detailed by investigators. The impact resulted in serious injuries to Glover.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Glover to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital for treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced dead at the medical facility, according to the coroner’s release.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the driver of the other vehicle involved or whether any charges or citations are being considered. Information about road conditions, speed, or contributing factors such as impairment has not been disclosed.
Route 40, also known as the historic National Road, is a major east-west corridor that runs through Uniontown and serves both local and regional traffic. The roadway frequently carries a mix of passenger vehicles and commercial traffic, particularly during peak travel hours.
Fatal motorcycle crashes often involve significant impact forces due to the limited protection afforded to riders compared to occupants of enclosed vehicles. Investigators typically examine multiple factors, including vehicle positioning, visibility, and roadway conditions, when reconstructing such incidents.
The Uniontown area is part of the greater Pittsburgh metropolitan region and lies within Fayette County, a largely rural and suburban area characterized by rolling terrain and a network of state highways connecting smaller communities.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Authorities have not indicated whether any witnesses have come forward or if additional information will be released as the case progresses.
Via Smithfield Youth League:
“In Loving Memory of Coach Glover
Today we honor and remember a coach, teammate, mentor, and friend whose impact on our league will never be forgotten. He helped me gain new hope for our little league. I could not think of 2 better additions than he and his brother Chad.
Coach Glover was set to bring some much needed dedication, heart, and pride to every player, every practice, and every game.
His passion for the sport and his unwavering commitment to helping our program grow made him the kind of coach every league hopes to have. He believed in hard work, skill development, teamwork, and always pushing our athletes to be their very best.
He did a fantastic job, pointing out potential in all of our kids early this season and dedicated extra time with his head coach for our showcases.
This year he joined us with the 8U boys coach pitch (Pink Team) but his love for the game and his desire to better the program was evident.
He was the true definition of dedication, leadership, and heart.
His presence on the field, his encouragement in the dugout, and his pride would have poured into our league will continue to live on through every child he coached (baseball, softball and wrestling) and every life he touched.
He is, and always will be, the epitome of what youth sports need today.
Rest easy, Coach. Your legacy will forever be part of Smithfield Youth League.”
