ELIZABETH, IL. (THECOUNT) — Jordan Havens has been identified as the fatality in a rollover crash Monday afternoon in rural Jo Daviess County, Illinois. A pickup truck operated by Dayan Havens, 18, of Elizabeth, was traveling along East Skene Road in Derinda Township, when it encountered loose gravel on the north side of the roadway.

According to authorities, the driver then overcorrected, causing the pickup to cross back over the roadway and enter the south ditch. The vehicle traveled up an embankment, became airborne, landed on its tires, and rolled multiple times before coming to rest.

Jordan Havens was 21. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 4:06 p.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash on East Skene Road, west of South Massbach Road, in a rural area near Elizabeth, a small community located in the northwestern portion of Illinois.

Emergency responders transported Dayan Havens to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No additional occupants were reported in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Authorities confirmed that Dayan Havens was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. No further charges have been announced.

The crash occurred on East Skene Road near its intersection with South Massbach Road, a rural roadway system serving local traffic in Jo Daviess County, which borders the Mississippi River and includes communities such as Elizabeth and Hanover.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident with assistance from an Illinois State Police crash reconstructionist. Officials have not released additional details regarding potential contributing factors beyond the initial findings.
