KENOVA, WV. (THECOUNT)Ronald Fraley, 18, of Fort Gay, West Virginia, was killed Thursday afternoon when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on along U.S. Route 52 near Cedar Run Road in the Kenova area of Wayne County, according to the West Virginia State Police.

According to a West Virginia State Police press release, a trooper responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 4:37 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, along U.S. Route 52 near Cedar Run Road.

The preliminary investigation determined that Fraley was traveling southbound on U.S. Route 52 when his vehicle crossed over the centerline and struck a guardrail along the east side of the roadway.

After striking the guardrail, the vehicle continued across the roadway and collided head-on with another vehicle, according to state police.

The impact sent Fraley’s vehicle into an overturning crash on the west side of the roadway. Fraley was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

State police said there is currently no suspicion that drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The agency did not identify the occupants of the other vehicle or report any injuries involving them in the information provided.

Next of kin was notified following the crash, according to the release.

The investigation remains open as West Virginia State Police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Kenova is located in Wayne County in western West Virginia, near the Ohio and Kentucky borders and approximately 10 miles west of Huntington.
