Dolly Parton Fans Worried Sick After Star Skips Major Dollywood Honor [WATCH]

Pigeon Forge, TN. (THECOUNT) — Dolly Parton apologized to Dollywood fans about missing a ceremony for the theme park, saying she’s been “dealing with a few health challenges this fall.”

Parton, 79, shared her remarks in a video posted to Dollywood’s Instagram on Wednesday. She had been scheduled to attend Monday’s ceremony honoring Dollywood’s induction into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Hall of Fame.

“I sure wish I could be with you in person today, but you probably heard that I’ve been dealing with a few health challenges this fall,” she said in the video. “My doctors told me to take it easy for just a little while. I’m truly sorry I can’t be there.”

The country music icon went on to express gratitude to her partners and the Dollywood team for turning her vision into reality.

“I still remember when I had the big idea for Dollywood,” she said. “I dreamed of a place, right here in the Smoky Mountains, where my family could perform, and where we could provide steady work for the good people in our community.”

Parton highlighted the honor of the induction, noting the creativity and kindness within the amusement park industry.

“I’m sure that you know the theme park world is full of some of the most creative and kind-hearted people that you’ll ever meet, and I’m so grateful that you consider me worthy of this recognition,” she continued. “Being inducted into the IAAPA Hall of Fame is a big, incredible way to celebrate Dollywood’s 40th anniversary season.”

She proudly pointed out that she is only the second woman ever inducted on her own and the fourth woman in the association’s 100-year history.

“So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for this honor. For me and for everyone who makes Dollywood what it is. And to all my friends and partners, and to all of you out there, helping families make every day in your own parks and places, remember that I will always love you,” Parton concluded, signing off with her signature phrase.

This marks the latest public event Parton has missed while prioritizing her health. In an Oct. 8 Instagram video, she directly addressed swirling rumors about the severity of her condition.

“Lately, everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick?” Parton said at the time. “I wanted you to know that I’m not dying.”

She explained that she had previously neglected her own health while caring for her husband of 58 years, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away earlier this year at age 82.

Parton revealed she had postponed several commitments, including a planned Las Vegas residency, to remain close to home and Vanderbilt Hospital, where she is receiving treatments “here and there.”

Despite stepping back from some appearances, Parton has continued to stay connected with fans through social media and pre-recorded messages, including Wednesday’s heartfelt video for the IAAPA Hall of Fame ceremony.

Dollywood, which opened in 1986, is celebrating its 40th anniversary season in 2025–2026. The Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, theme park has grown from a small attraction called Silver Dollar City into one of the most beloved family destinations in the United States, largely credited to Parton’s vision and ongoing involvement.

The IAAPA Hall of Fame honor recognizes individuals who have made lasting contributions to the global attractions industry. Parton’s induction places her alongside industry pioneers, underscoring Dollywood’s cultural and economic impact on East Tennessee.

Fans flooded the comments of Dollywood’s post with well-wishes, with many writing “Get well soon, Dolly,” “We love you,” and “Your health comes first.”
