NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Startisha Marquese Brown and Tatrelisha Johnson, both of Memphis, Tennessee, have been identified as the adults involved in a Friday afternoon vehicle crash that killed two young people and injured five others in New Madrid County, Missouri.
Brown, 34, was at the wheel of an SUV in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor near Marston, Missouri Friday afternoon.
According to reports, Brown was operating a Ford Expedition on Interstate 55 near Marston, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into the path of an 18-wheeler around 12:10 p.m. Friday.
Johnson, 30, and two girls ages 13 and 15, were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Brown and a 14-year-old girl were transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
One 11-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene and another boy, 14, was transported to an area hospital, where he later died of blunt force trauma injuries.
The driver of the semi was not injured in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
