SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — Oscar Frayer, a star Grand Canyon University senior basketball player, was identified as the victim in a fiery Tuesday vehicle crash that also took the lives of two other individuals.

Frayer, 23, was killed along with two others after a vehicle crash involving a California Highway Patrol cruiser in San Joaquin County, California on Tuesday.

According to reports, Frayer and two other people were traveling in a vehicle on Interstate 5 near West Walnut Grove Road, in Thornton, when their vehicle made contact with the rear of a CHP cruiser that was stopped on the side of the road assisting a disabled tractor-trailer.

The collision sent the passenger vehicle into a tree before it burst into flames.

All three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force and thermal injuries.

Frayer’s older sister, Andrea Moore, was named as one of the victims. A third victim has not yet been identified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
