A 27-year-old San Diego man is dead after participating in a fatal version of the “punching game,” early Saturday morning. The death occurred in the bar section of eatery, Jolt’n Joe’s Gaslamp.
The two men involved were engaged in a punching game at the establishment, when one of the men collapsed and died, police say. The punching game is when participants take turns punching one another, in this case, in the chest, in a controlled mutual combat to see who can endure the most pain.
The incident happened at Jolt’n Joe’s, 6901, 379 Fourth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101, just before 1 a.m. Police say both men were drinking when they decided to have a punching contest. During the game, one of the men collapsed. Staff at the bar performed CPR on the 27-year-old who was taken to the hospital where he later died.source
The suspect in the death was taken also taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pain.
Police haven’t officially made any arrests.
