Two Mongolian National wrestling coaches disrobed in front of an arena filled with fans and onlookers. This was in protest to a bad call made by the officials/judges during a wrestling match at the Olympics that impacted the outcome.
This was supposed to be the bronze medal match for wrestling at the Rio Games. It was down to Mandakhnaran Ganzorig of Mongolia and Ikhtiyor Navruzov of Uzbekistan.

There was about 7 seconds left on the clock and Mongolia’s Ganzorig began celebrating by running around the area in what he thought would be a 7 – 6 victory in his favor. However, this was not the case, Uzbekistan challenged the scoring and by stating the wrestler (Ganzorig) failed to continue engaging with Navruzov and there was time left on the clock.
Officials penalized Ganzorig for fleeing and not engaging in those final seconds, this changed the score to 7 – 7. After the Mongolians protested the call and lost Navruzov was given another point. That call was a game changer and ultimately ended with Mongolia taking a bit fat L (loss) – putting them out of medal contention and awarding Uzbekistan’s Navruzov with the bronze.
Coach Byambarenchin quickly responded by taking off his shoes and shirt, throwing them onto the mat in a hostile temper tantrum. He was gesturing his protest about the decision and didn’t hold back his feelings to the judges.
But wait it gets better………
The second coach, Tsenrenbataar Tsostbayar stripped all the way down to his navy blue briefs in utter disgust at the call made by officials and both coaches refused to leave the arena. The crowd began chanting M-O-N-G-O-L-I-A over and over again. The half naked fits of rage from the Mongolian coaches quickly went viral. Ahhh – these are the moments that invented the “meme” – ok social media bring on the gif’s and naught meme action, the world is waiting.
