As Mayor Bill de Blasio walked into a press conference at Woodhull Hospital to address the murders of two NYPD officers, an entire line of standing NYPD officers turned their backs.
Two female NYPD police officers were slain in the wake of recent protests over the death of Eric Garner.
The NYPD also circulated a petition rebuking New York City Mayor de Blasio and Council Speaker Mark-Viverito for their open support of the protests. Two weeks ago, de Blasio stated in an interview “There is no question something is wrong.” h/t ijreview
The petition stated that if the officer should die in the line of duty, the mayor and the council speaker would not be welcome at the officer’s funeral.
