To say I’m “mad as hell” does not even begin to cover my reaction after seeing Michael deceased on the cover of OK! Magazine. All I was doing was going to the store to buy hotdogs for the beginning of what I hoped would be a glorious 4th of July Weekend.

Approaching the check out aisle there it was, OK! Magazine at eye level with a horrible picture of Michael Jackson expired. Suddenly my happy holiday smile turned in to a twisted frown. The blood draining from my face, slumped and disfigured, I hurriedly turned over their entire stock ok OK! magazines. I swiped my fresh savings card, got my dogs and left.
The image of Michael stuck in my head. Now blowing up the rafts for the pool party with a blank look on my face. “Count what’s wrong? My friends quizzed… “Nothing, have fun.” I stated. After a big burger and some nice white corn on the cob, I sat watching a TV special on the Jackson family, still messed up in the head, then it came to me, I need to vent, OK! Magazine went too far, way too far, and OK! is not going to get away with this grotesque stunt.
I am calling on a boycott of OK! Magazine, I am asking for store owners to remove this issue from the stands. How a picture of a legend, reduced to this, was allowed to be prominently sitting on the rack for all to see, old and young is not only disrespectful, it is mean spirited.
OK! Magazine is anything but “okay.” All OK! wants is your money and they certainly saw dollar signs when they got a hold of the horror-show of a picture, however, this will backfire. I personally and everyone here at ThecounT.com will do everything in our editorial powers to make sure it does.
When you’re at your local store or newsstand, tell the manager how offended you are by this cover. If you have kids, tell the manager you will “stop shopping here” if this sick cover is continued to be allowed viewable to you and your children. If they refuse, turn the magazine over so the back-cover shows, in silent protest.
IF you love Michael, then this is the least you can do. This is a call to arms. Tell your friends. Send this article to everyone you know, post it on twitter, myspace, facebook, etc.
BOYCOTT OK MAGAZINE! Let’s send them a strong signal we will not stand for this!
