HUTCHINSON COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Kenniston Charles Brown, 48, of Skellytown, Texas, was killed Thursday evening after his motorcycle struck a deer on a rural roadway in Hutchinson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Brown was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.
Hutchinson County is located in the Texas Panhandle north of Amarillo. The fatal crash occurred on Farm-to-Market Road 2171 approximately one mile west of FM 280.
According to a preliminary investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol, Brown was operating a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on FM 2171 at approximately 6:08 p.m. Thursday.
Investigators said the motorcycle struck a deer that was in the roadway.
Authorities reported that the impact caused the motorcycle to overturn onto its side, ejecting Brown from the vehicle.
Brown sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Texas Department of Public Safety identified Brown as a resident of Skellytown, a community located in Carson County in the Texas Panhandle.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The Texas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash.
