Ex-Huskies Football Player Voi Tunuufi ID’d As Victim In Monday Fatal Vehicle Crash

SEATTLE, WA. (THECOUNT) — Voi Tunuufi, of Seattle, Washington, a former East High School football standout and University of Washington player, has been identified as the victim in a fatal early morning crash Monday, according to family members. Tunuufi was 23.

Tunuufi was a multi-year contributor on the Huskies defensive line, appearing in 52 career games and earning 11 starts during his senior season.

Authorities have not released detailed information regarding the circumstances of the crash. According to a statement shared by family on a GoFundMe page, the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Tunuufi was a former three-star recruit out of East High School, where he played a key role in leading the Leopards to the Utah Class 6A state playoff semifinals during the 2020 season. He earned first-team All-Utah honors as a defensive lineman and was ranked among the top recruits in the state.

Following his high school career, Tunuufi went on to play at the University of Washington, where he appeared in 52 games over the course of his collegiate career and started 11 games during his senior season.

The University of Washington football program acknowledged his passing in a public statement, extending condolences to his family, teammates, and those connected to the program.

After graduating, Tunuufi was not selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. According to available information, he had been pursuing opportunities to continue his football career and was preparing to take on a coaching role as a defensive line coach at Skyline High School.

Family members described Tunuufi as someone who was committed to supporting others and contributing to his community.

Authorities have not indicated whether other vehicles were involved in the crash or if additional injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.

Seattle is a major metropolitan area in the Pacific Northwest and serves as a hub for regional traffic and activity. Early morning roadway incidents often involve limited visibility and reduced traffic conditions, though officials have not confirmed contributing factors in this case.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
