JACKSONVILLE, IL (THECOUNT)Adelisa “Addi” Rose Johnson, a 15-year-old Illinois teenager, has been identified as the victim killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening in Morgan County, according to authorities.

The Morgan County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Johnson died following the crash, which occurred at approximately 6 p.m. at the intersection of Mt. Zion Road and Gravel Springs Road in Jacksonville. Officials said the incident involved only one vehicle and remains under active investigation.

Law enforcement authorities stated that just before 6:00 p.m., Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies and Jacksonville Police officers responded to an automatic crash notification alert. Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling eastbound at an intersection when it left the roadway and rolled.

The coroner’s office confirmed Johnson was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. No additional occupants have been publicly identified, and officials have not released details regarding the vehicle, roadway conditions, or other contributing factors.

Illinois State Police are assisting with the investigation alongside the Morgan County Coroner’s Office. Authorities have not indicated whether speed, impairment, or mechanical issues are believed to be factors at this stage of the investigation.

In a statement released Saturday morning, Jacksonville School District 117 Superintendent Steve Ptacek confirmed Johnson was a student within the district and expressed condolences on behalf of the school community.

“It is with immense sorrow that I share news of this tragic event,” Ptacek said in the statement. “The entire JSD117 community is grieving the loss of Addy [sic], who was a cherished member of our school.”

Ptacek also said the district will provide additional support services for students and staff impacted by the loss when classes resume. According to the statement, counselors, social workers, and school psychologists will be available to provide assistance to those who need support.

School officials did not release further information regarding Johnson’s grade level or specific activities but described her as a valued member of the school community. District leaders encouraged families to remain attentive to students who may be struggling following the news.

The crash occurred in Morgan County, located in west-central Illinois, an area that includes a mix of rural roadways and city streets. Authorities have not disclosed the exact intersection where the vehicle left the roadway.
