BOTETOURT COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Richard Banville, of Franklin, Massachusetts, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash in Botetourt County, Virginia.
Banville, 51, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Fincastle early Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Banville was operating a Nissan Sentra on Interstate 81 near the Troutville Safety Rest Area at Mile Marker 158, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway around 2 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle then came into contact with a Jersey wall.
Banville was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene of the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
