LAPORTE COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Grant Gable, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday night fatal police-involved vehicle crash in LaPorte County, Indiana.
Gable, 18, was killed in a Michigan City vehicle crash involving Indiana State Police Thursday night.
According to reports, Gable was allegedly operating a vehicle the wrong-way on Michigan Boulevard in Michigan City, when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 8 p.m. Thursday. The driver refused to pull over and a chase ensued.
At some point during the chase, Gable’s vehicle came into contact with concrete pillars near Ames Field. The vehicle then went airborne before striking a brick wall.
Gable was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
