HARRIS COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Marcelo Garcia has been identified as the Texas man fatally shot Wednesday morning during a police-involved shooting in Harris County.
Garcia, 46, was reportedly armed with a knife when a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy opened fire early Wednesday morning near Houston.

According to reports, a woman contacted 911 around 1 a.m. saying her husband was experiencing a mental health crisis. Investigators say dispatch called for a deputy and a mental health unit to respond to the scene, however, the mental health unit was busy on another call.
The deputy was met at the front door by Garcia who was allegedly armed with a knife.
The home is located in the 5900 block of Sunflower Prairie Court in Houston.
According to the ABC13, the deputy told the man to drop the knife, but the man “aggressively approached the deputy.”
The deputy reportedly tried to use his taser on the suspect, but investigators say it didn’t work. That’s when the deputy fired his gun several times, hitting and killing the 46-year-old man, according to the sheriff’s office.
Garcia’s sister says he was a married father for four girls and struggled his entire life with schizophrenia and was bipolar.
The deputy involved was not injured. He was placed on administrative leave as is protocol.
