INDIANAPOLIS, IN. (THECOUNT) — Jeffrey “Duke” Denman, the driver of a tanker truck that overturned and exploded on I-70 last month, has died Saturday morning in an area hospital.

Denman was hauling about 4,000 gallons of jet fuel when his tanker big-rig overturned for unknown reasons while traveling on the I-70 ramp at I-465 on February 20.

A spokesperson for Eskenazi Health said Denman passed away Saturday morning.

Family members said Denman had burns covering 70-80% of his body following the explosion, and had extensive damage to his lungs and other parts of his body, reports TheIndyChannel.

Denman, whose age was not provided, was being treated at the Richard Banks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health and had undergone multiple surgeries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
