KY Man Loren Shoemake ID’d As Victim In Fatal Amazon Hebron Construction Site Accident

CINCINNATI, OH. (THECOUNT) — Loren Shoemake, of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, has been identified as the victim in a fatal workplace accident at the Amazon construction site at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in Hebron, KY on Saturday.

Shoemake, 46, was killed in an accident as a result of blunt force trauma around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, according to officials.

Police and CVG officials said crews were called to the scene of the workplace injury and discovered Shoemake fatally injured.

Shoemake was an ironworker employed by Columbus Steel Erectors.

The construction company said a full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

The company said OSHA personnel have also responded.

CVG airport officials released the following statement regarding the accident:

“CVG and our entire airport community are deeply saddened, and offer our sincere condolences to the family, friends and co-workers impacted. We are grateful for the first responders who assisted on scene and appreciate the work of those who continue to review this tragic accident,” reports WLWT.

Amazon officials released the following statement:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, along with the contractors and construction teams during this difficult time.”

The construction companies involved in the project, Whiting-Turner/Kokosing J.V. shared the following statement:

“We are deeply saddened to report that we suffered a serious accident today on our CVG project in Covington, Ky. that resulted in fatal injuries to one of our jobsite workers, an ironworker employed by Columbus Steel Erectors. A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident and our team and safety professionals are actively working with OSHA personnel on site. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as well as all of our affected team members.”
