HOUSTON, TX. (THECOUNT) — Israel Suarez Lugo has been identified as the Texas man facing intoxication assault charges after running a red light and plowing into another car early Sunday morning, according to officials.
Lugo, 35, was jailed Sunday morning following a fatal crash that occurred around 1:15 a.m. at the intersection of Harrisburg Boulevard and 75th Street, Houston, TX.
A 5-year-old female passenger was transported to an area hospital in grave condition.
Sean Teare, chief of Harris County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division, said investigators believe the driver of a red pickup truck was intoxicated, and witnesses stated Lugo broadsided a sedan carrying two children. source
Lugo was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
