Sumter, SC. (THECOUNT) — Dr. Carl Whetsell has been identified as the victim found dead inside a Sumter, SC, residence Tuesday.
The longtime Sumter area doctor passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, the Sumter County Coroner’s office confirmed.
Coroner Robbie Baker says Dr. Carl Whetsell, 62, a pediatrician at Sumter Pediatrics, P.A., on Church Street, in Sumter, SC, was found dead at his home around 3:30 p.m.
The coroner says he went home from work after complaining about not feeling well. A neighbor later discovered his body inside his residence.
It’s believed his death is from natural causes, but an autopsy will be conducted Wednesday. source
