NASHVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Erik Helffenstein has been identified as the victim found shot dead in an SUV in Nashville early Monday morning. The victim was allegedly shot while chasing suspects breaking into area vehicles.
Helffenstein, 45, was found by police deceased inside an SUV on Highway 100 in an area east of Trace Creek Drive, in Nashville, TN, early Monday morning.
Officials say Helffenstein was fatally shot while chasing after people who were breaking into cars outside his Meadow Ridge Circle home.

Helffenstein was pronounced dead at the hospital of gunshot wounds.
Police said the suspect vehicle is a dark colored SUV.
