SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ. (THECOUNT) — A man visiting a Seaside Heights, NJ, beach with his wife and 5-year-old son, may have broken his neck after being hit by a wave, local press reported.
The 40-year-old man, whose identity was not provided, died Saturday evening in the rough surf in Seaside Heights, according to a report.
The National Weather Service has been warning about rip currents and rough waves for days along Ocean County’s beaches being kicked up by Hurricane Florence. Long Beach Township authorities issued a Nixle alert Saturday warning residents of a “continued high risk of rip currents in effect through the next few days. Do not go in the water.” source
Multiple police and EMS vehicles were on the beach at Fremont Avenue Saturday night.
Ocean County Scanner News reported the incident happened about 400 yards north of Casino Pier and said the man was brought to shore and CPR performed.
