Friends of a pregnant Kansas woman found dead in her residence say the young mother was killed on the same day she was to discover the gender of her baby. Ashley Harlan was 23 years old.
Harlan had moved to the Kansas City suburb from Manhattan, Kansas, to be nearer to her baby’s father earlier this month, according to reports. But now she’s dead in what police are calling a suspected homicide.
The Kansas City Star reports that Harlan was found dead Tuesday inside an Olathe townhome located at 1200 E Westerfield Pl, Olathe, KS 66061. She had moved to the Kansas City suburb from Manhattan, Kansas, to be nearer to her baby’s father earlier this month.
Friend, Tabitha Brown, said she was to be the godmother to Harlan’s child and planned to go to the ultrasound appointment with Harlan. She said Harlan never got the chance to learn the sex of her baby. source
Another friend, Kaitlin Beeton, says Harlan had been “doing so well, working hard on her future.”
Police didn’t immediately say whether a suspect has been identified.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
