An embattled journalist on trial in the phone hacking case claims Princess Diana gave him the royal phone directory in 1992 during her feud with her estranged husband, Prince Charles.
Former News of the World royal editor Clive Goodman said Thursday that Diana leaked him the directory.
He said Diana gave him details about Charles’ household staff in an envelope delivered to the newspaper’s offices.
The editor said Diana was going through a “very, very difficult time” and was looking for media allies who could help her in her very public battle with Charles. source
Goodman was briefly jailed in 2007 for his role in phone hacking, and is on trial for alleged conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office. He denies the charges.
