38 Top Singles – 22 Top-40 – 12 Top-20 – Nine Top-10 hits on the American Billboard Hot 100 charts – ALL THAT AND – Dionne Warwick is broke… And a focus of the money grabbing IRS… Documents show the singer is now worth a meager $25,000 while owing a staggering $10.7M in Debt.
Burt Bacharach prodigy, Dionne Warwick may have performed some of America’s most beloved and well-known hits and even won Grammy awards in the process, but that won’t stop her from going broke and being forced to file for bankruptcy! Many of her hits were produced specifically her by Bacharach, the problem is, she owns NONE of the writing and publishing royalties… In other words, she was nothing more than a hired gun.
72-year-old, Warwick, who sung the classic “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?” among MANY other popular songs, filed the petition on March 21 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey, the state where she was born and currently lives. She listed total assets of $25,500 and total liabilities of more than $10.7 million, nearly all tax claims by the Internal Revenue Service and the state of California, according to the filing.
