SHELBY COUNTY, TN. (THECOUNT) — Ramarin Baker Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee, has been identified as the suspect in the fatal shooting of his father, Ramarin Baker Sr., on Saturday in Shelby County.

Baker Jr., 19, fatally shot his father, Ramarin Baker Sr., in front of Memphis police officers who had arrived on the scene.

According to reports, officers responded to a shots fired call in the 3700 Block of Ridgemont Avenue on Saturday. When they arrived, they found Baker Jr. tussling on the ground with his father.

Police observed Baker Jr. armed with a weapon and ordered him to drop it. At that point, the teen fired the gun fatally striking his father.

Baker Jr. then threatened to kill himself until officers negotiated with him to put down the gun.

Baker Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.

Officers found two handguns at the scene. One of the guns had an “illegal modification.”

Baker Jr. was charged with second-degree murder and possession of a prohibited weapon.
