PHOENIX, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Dontae Ray McGinty, of Phoenix, Arizona, has been identified as the victim fatally shot in Phoenix Sunday.
“Dwon” McGinty, 28, was killed and another man was arrested in a shooting that occurred around 2 p.m. Sunday near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road.

According to officials, officers responded to a call of shots fired near 27th Ave. When they arrived, officers discovered McGinty suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.
Several witnesses told officers that McGinty had been threatening others with a large knife when he was shot by a 25-year-old man. This happened after McGinty tried to stab another person, reports AZFamily.
Phoenix police found a large knife in McGinty’s hand by responding officers.
Police say the man who shot McGinty was cooperative with officers and called 911 after he shot McGinty.
The 25-year-old suspect was taken into custody and taken to Phoenix Police Headquarters for questioning.
The man has since been released pending the outcome of Phoenix police’s investigation. The shooter’s name has not been released at this time, reports AZFamily.
Police say the investigation will be submitted for review by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
