MANHATTAN, IL. (THECOUNT) — Laura Mae Schmersahl, the Du Bois, IL woman involved in a Monday vehicle crash in Manhattan, Illinois, has passed away of her injuries in an area hospital, according to Tuesday reports.
(Caswell) Schmersahl, 55, died following a vehicle crash in Manhattan Township on Monday, the Will County Coroner’s Office said.

Schmersahl died at 6:51 p.m. Monday at the Silver Cross Intensive Care Unit, reports Patch.
Police said a Toyota, which Schmersahl was driving, was traveling on West Offner Road approaching the stop sign at Route 52, while the Ford was traveling northbound on Route 52. The Toyota turned onto Route 52 in front of the Ford and was t-boned in the intersection, reports Patch.
Both Schmersahl, originally from Elkton, Illinois, and the driver of the Ford, a 55-year-old man from Manteno, were taken to Silver Cross Hospital with serious injuries.
Schmersahl was later pronounced dead of injuries sustained in the violent collision.
