WASHINGTON, DC. (THECOUNT) — Are people getting burned out on watching the never ending stream of breaking news in a world of constant popup alerts and notifications? Well if you have a look at the recent ratings the answer may be a resounding – ratings red alert.

CNN, MSNBC and Fox News all suffered ratings declines over this last week. With some more than others. All men on deck.

CNN, MSNBC reportedly experienced “a nosedive” in ratings last week, with both networks having shed nearly a third of their respective prime time audiences and a quarter of their respective day-long audiences.

Fox News reportedly also experienced a decline in viewership that was not quite as dramatic when compared to the CNN MSNBC drop.

“When compared with the same week in 2018, Fox News was -5% in total prime time viewers, MSNBC was -31%, CNN was -26%,” Adweek reported Tuesday, citing the latest Nielsen data. “In total day, Fox was -8%, MSNBC was -27% CNN was -19%,” reports BizpacReview.

The official results for last week are shown in the image below:

CNN managed to eke out a slight victory against MSNBC in both total prime time viewers and total day viewers.

MSNBC’s lackluster performance may stem from “the channel’s switch to peddling bizarre conspiracy theories,” said one analyst.
