BATON ROUGE, LA. (THECOUNT) — Justin Thomas, a boxer from Baton Rouge, LA, has been identified as the victim killed after shots were fired outside a bar early Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported before 2:30 a.m. outside Bennies Bar & Lounge, on North Street, in Baton Rouge near the Turner Plaza apartments, according to local reports.

Police identified the 35-year-old boxer as the victim.

Thomas was rushed from the scene to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead on gunshot injuries.

BRPD says Thomas was shot while walking back to his car from the club. Thomas’ manager confirmed the news Tuesday, saying he had a match scheduled for later this year, reports WBRZ.

There are no known suspects or motives at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
