AMHERST, NY. (THECOUNT) — Beloved dreadlocked homeless man, Lawrence “Larry” Bierl, has been identified as the victim found dead of apparent hypothermia on Amherst, New York, Main Street bus stop.

Officials identified Bierl, 68, as the body of a well-known homeless man who died as bitter cold temperatures swept through the area Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Bierl was discovered dead on a bus bench buried in snow near Main Street and Union Road in the Village of Williamsville, reports WKBW.

According to the Erie County Executive, Mr. Bierl died of hypothermia despite people in the area claiming they offered him food and lodging Wednesday evening. According to locals, he refused

He was a community regular at the Tim Hortons at the Walker Center on Main Street and could often be seen sitting quietly at a table in the corner. He always ordered the same thing every day, WKBW reports.

“Larry was a loyal customer. He got a small cream and sugar with a large iced water every day,” a Tim Hortons rep said.

Known for his dreadlocks and quiet demeanor, Larry was well-known in this community for decades, and his presence will be missed.
