MCDONOUGH, GA. (THECOUNT) — Henry County Officer Michael Smith, who was shot in early December during a struggle at a McDonough, Georgia, dentist office, has died as a result of his injuries in an Atlanta hospital, reports said Friday.
Smith passed away early Friday morning at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta following complications from the injuries, the Henry County Police Department said on Facebook. “Please keep the Smith family in your prayers,” the post read.

Smith was shot during a struggle at Smile Family and Cosmetics Dentistry on Jonesboro Road in McDonough. Police said a single bullet injured him and also killed the suspect. source
