DECATUR, IL. (THECOUNT) — Larry C. Williams has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed near Tate & Lyle Research Center Wednesday.
At approximately 11:43 AM on Wednesday, officers responded reports of a traffic crash that occurred at the intersection of E. Eldorado and N. 24th St, in Decatur, IL.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that a full size pickup truck struck a pedestrian standing near the intersection. The pedestrian was later identified as 48-year-old Williams.
Initial investigation shows the following; the 55 year old man was traveling east in the 2300 block of E. Eldorado St. The 48 year old pedestrian was standing on the sidewalk on N. 24th St. just south of E. Eldorado St. The pick-up truck left the roadway to the south and was unable to maintain control. The pick-up subsequently continued through the boulevard and front yards on the south side of the 2300 block of E. Eldorado striking the pedestrian on the sidewalk. source
Williams sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the collision.
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
