Thomas, 27, was sitting in the backseat with his 3-year-old daughter, who was in a child safety seat when the fatal crash occurred, police said.
A tractor-trailer was traveling on I-69 when it rear-ended a four-door sedan, Flint Township police said. Both of those vehicles ran off the roadway and came to a rest in the ditch on the north side of the expressway. The two other vehicles remained on the roadway. source
Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. His daughter was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
A youcaring page has been set up to help with funeral expenses.
The fundraising page for Thomas and his daughter says the following about their passing:
Cody and Aria tragically killed in a car accident on 3/14 in Flint MI. They were just picked up from the airport along with loving mother and wife Brittany Thomas. They weren’t far from the airport when they were sadly rear ended by a semi in construction traffic. Cody died on impact and Aria passed away at the hospital.
We are seeking funeral funds and support funds for Brittany as she is forced to face this unbelievable tragedy.
