The judge in the Bill Cosby‘s sexual assault trial ruled Friday jurors can hear his deposition testimony about quaaludes, but not his references to the supposed aphrodisiac Spanish fly.
Cosby, 79, is going to trial over the drugging and subsequent molestation of Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. He calls the encounter consensual.
In the decade-old deposition, Cosby said he got seven prescriptions for quaaludes in the 1970s, intending not to take them himself but to give them to women he was pursuing for sex. The powerful sedatives were banned in 1983, and Cosby said he no longer had them when he met Constand 20 years later. Continue reading
Neven Glen Butler has been arrested over the sexual assault and beating death of an 86-year-old California woman. The elder was attacked as she tried to help a friend during a morning walk, officials say.
Butler, 18, was taken into custody after being detained on unrelated assault and elder abuse charges. That attack happened only a few miles away from the current senior’s beating death. Butler is being held on suspicion of murder, without bail. He is set to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on Monday.
Homicide detectives tied Butler to the scene of the sexual assaults of 86-year-old Fusako Petrus and a 61-year-old friend earlier that same day, Turnbull said. Petrus died after she was badly beaten, while her younger friend was treated at the scene for injuries. Petrus was killed after she tried to help her friend, who was the initial target of the attack, Turnbull said. Continue reading
Oakland University professor, Joseph Schiele, is accused of running a drug house, providing drugs such as marijuana and ketamine to students, and a felony firearm charge.
Schiele, who has been a professor at OU since 2004, has been placed on paid leave, after charges were brought against him. A “review” of the professor in 2015 on “RatemyProfessor,” noted: “Basically absent and tried to run the class completely remote control. Was very inconsistent with requirements. Syllabus stated one requirement but his examples of good work were 4X the requirement. Responses to the many questions due to his lack of direction were delayed if answered at all. Is a detriment to the Oakland MBA program.”
According to WDIV, tips had been accumulating since January 2016, including a 22-year-old female student who told the court she had visited “at least 30 times” for visits including alcohol, cocaine and ketamine. A 19-year-old student said Schiele provided him with alcohol, marijuana and ketamine. Continue reading
Peter Gagnon, the dean of students at Souhegan High School in Amherst, New Hampshire, is facing a slew charges after cops were forced to tase him at a Massachusetts strip club for getting “too close” to dancers and repeatedly entering the women’s bathroom.
Gagnon, 37, was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to reports. After arriving at the police station, Gagnon continued to be uncooperative, at one point, repeatedly sticking his head in the jail cell toilet.
Police said they were called to Ten’s Show Club in Salisbury shortly after midnight Wednesday after Gagnon refused to honor requests by security to leave for allegedly getting too close to dancers and entering a women’s bathroom. When officers arrived, they said Gagnon appeared intoxicated and refused their attempts to provide him with a ride home. Continue reading
Gina Miller, a self-described Ohio psychic, bilked a dozen people out of more than $1 million in cash and valuables over 15 years. Miller told clients they were “cursed” and then claimed to have the power to protect them from dark forces.
Miller, 42, “ran a scam,” Ohio prosecutors said. She has been sentenced to eight years in prison and ordered to repay $1.4 million.
Miller said in court she was sorry for her actions. The judge in Painesville gave her the maximum sentence, saying she didn’t deserve leniency. Miller had previously pleaded guilty to an aggravated theft charge in the scheme prosecutors say had operated for about 15 years. Continue reading
Fyre Festival was supposed to be “the unparalleled best in music, cuisine, design & hospitality on a private island in the Exumas,” but as it turned out, it was more like a luxury party that turned into the Hunger Games.
The $12,000 a ticket music and art festival, hosted on a private island in the Bahamas, was promoted by rapper Ja Rule and Kendall Jenner as a once-in-a-lifetime party with crystal clear water, beautiful women and amazing music. But when fans arrived, they found something very different.
Blink 182 was the first act to pull out of the ill conceived event saying, “We’re not confident that we would have what we need to give you the quality of performances we always give our fans.” Continue reading
