TULSA, OK. (THECOUNT) — Roy Clark, country guitar virtuoso, ‘Hee Haw‘ star, has died.
Publicist Jeremy Westby said Clark died Thursday due to complications from pneumonia at home in Tulsa, Okla.
Clark was “Hee Haw” host or co-host for its entire 24-year run. The country music and comedy show’s last new episode aired in 1993, though reruns continued for a few years thereafter. Continue reading
MONROE COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Raffaella Maria Stroik has been identified as the young woman found dead in a Perry, Missouri lake Wednesday, according to State Highway Patrol officials.
The body of Stroik, 23, was found Wednesday more than 100 miles northwest of St. Louis in the Mark Twain Lake after she was last seen Monday morning at a Whole Foods Market in the St. Louis suburb of Town and Country, Missouri, officials said.
Authorities are investigating the death of a St. Louis ballerina who was found dead in a lake in Perry, MO Wednesday.
More than 100 law enforcement officers, volunteers and family members were searching for her in the Mark Twain State Park when a private plane pilot who had joined the search spotted her body in the water, officials said in a statement. Continue reading
BOONE COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Otto Kramer III, 63, of Pickerington Ohio; Vicky Moore, 60, of Auxvasse, Missouri; Cindy Spradlin, 63, of Auxvasse, Missouri; and Jennifer Temple, 44, of Columbia, have been identified as the four victims killed following a Interstate 70 crash in Boone County, MO.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, who released the aforementioned names, confirmed them as the four individuals killed in a crash on I-70 at mile marker 133 on Wednesday near Columbia.
Otto Kramer III, 63, of Pickerington Ohio; Vicky Moore, 60, of Auxvasse, Missouri; Cindy Spradlin, 63, of Auxvasse, Missouri; and Jennifer Temple, 44, of Columbia were killed in the crash, and the next of kin has been notified. Continue reading
CANTON, OH. (THECOUNT) — David Barringer has been identified as the victim killed in a head-on pickup truck crash Wednesday night in Stark County.
Barringer, 38, died following a Wednesday night crash in Stark County involving two pickup trucks.
Authorities say the crash happened at 7:02 p.m. in the 6400 block of Ohio 43, in North Canton, OH.
David Barringer was driving a 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck when “he went left of center into the northbound lane,” according to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office. His vehicle collided head on with a 2014 Ford pickup truck. Continue reading
BALTIMORE, MD. (THECOUNT) — An audience member says a man interrupted a performance of “Fiddler on the Roof” at Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre, by yelling anti-semitic slurs Wednesday.
A witness said the man, who was seated in the balcony of the theatre on Wednesday night, began shouting “Heil Hitler, Heil Trump” during the performance intermission.
The outburst cause many people attending the play to flee the scene fearing an escalation.
The witness stated that individuals started running and “waiting to hear a gunshot.”
The man was escorted out and the show without further incident. The performance continued.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Lawrence Sullivan, the heavily tattooed man who went viral last year for his comical green-haired Joker inspired mugshot, has again been arrested in Florida.
Sullivan, 30, was jailed Wednesday in Pinellas County on a probation violation charge.
Sullivan’s new mugshot features the same green hair and extensive tattoos. The jail records noted that his tattoos featured a skull, sword, pot leaf, brass knuckles, devil and a rose.
Sullivan was arrested in 2017 near Miami after he reportedly waved a gun at motorists. He was found with a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun in his pocket, the Miami Herald reported. Continue reading
GREENVILLE, SC. (THECOUNT) — Jackson Eugene Cowdrey has been identified as the victim killed following a crash on Interstate 85 Wednesday evening, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
Jack Cowdrey, 21, was involved in a fatal accident which occurred around 8:55 p.m., near the mile marker 51 on the southbound lanes of the I-85.
Cowdrey was operating a 2002 Volvo when he ignored slowing traffic and rear ended a big-rig on Wednesday night.
Cowdrey did attempt to swerve right behind the tractor trailer to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.
According to troopers, both the driver of the 2018 Freightliner tractor trailer and the driver of the 2002 Volvo were driving south on I-85. The driver of the Volvo was behind the tractor trailer, and hit the tractor trailer from behind. The driver of the Volvo, identified early Thursday morning as 21-year-old Jackson Eugene Cowdrey from Greer, was entrapped in the vehicle. He had to be mechanically extracted and was pronounced dead at the scene. Continue reading
MILL SPRING, NC. (THECOUNT) — Cindy Walker has been identified as the Mill Spring, NC, woman found beaten to death in her residence Wednesday. Her son Jack has since been arrested in what police at calling a homicide.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office officials were called to perform a welfare check at a home after an injured man arrived at a Tennessee hospital telling staff he’d possibly killed his own mother. That man was later identified as Jack Walker.
Police then went to the woman’s Mill Spring residence where she was located dead.
Deputies said they were called out early Wednesday morning to conduct a welfare dress at an address on Highway 9 South. Deputies found the woman dead when they arrived. She wasn’t identified until Wednesday evening as Cindy Walker following an inter-state investigation. Nashville police later identified the man as 27-year-old Jack Walker when they arrested him later on Wednesday. According to North Precinct detectives, Walker showed up to General Hospital with superficial scratches on his hands and told staff he tried to kill his mother, adding on she might be dead. Based on his account and on the discovery of his mother’s Jeep in the hospital parking garage with a bloody shirt in the passenger seat, Metro Nashville Police contacted PCSO and asked deputies to check on Cindy Walker. PCSO would then finder her dead in her home with apparent trauma. Continue reading
SPRING, TX. (THECOUNT) — A former Harris County deputy who investigators said was shot to death Wednesday by his son at their home in Dove Meadows, TX, Wednesday, has been identified as Brian Merritt.
Merritt, 53, was shot by his 27-year-old son in an apparent attempt to protect his mother, reports say.
The shooting happened about 5:30 a.m. near the corner of Meadow Hill Dr, and Meadowhill Ct, in Dove Meadows, TX 77388.
Harris County Sheriff Gonzalez said Merritt was found dead at the scene adding that there may have been a history of disturbances at the home.
“We heard there may have been a history here at this location, maybe with this individual and this family, but to what extent we still don’t know,” Gonzalez said.
Investigators said the 22-year-old son of Brian Merritt, 53, said he shot his father in order to protect his mother, who was being assaulted by Merritt. “The adult male we’re assuming here was the son that contacted us and he did disclose that he had shot his father during a disturbance,” Gonzalez said. MEMPHIS, TN. (THECOUNT) — Two people have reportedly died and 46 people are hospitalized after a Teague Express tour bus overturned in DeSoto County, TN.
According to the sheriff’s department, the tour bus overturned at I-269 and Highway 78, blocking the road.
Authorities on the scene say all 46 surviving passengers sustained various injuries and have been taken to various hospitals.
Baptist Memorial Hospital DeSoto has received 18 patients from the crash. All patients sent to Regional One Health were transferred to Baptist Collierville. Continue reading
