HOLLYWOOD, CA. (THECOUNT) — Shelley Duvall, the beloved actress known for her iconic role in Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining,” has passed away at the age of 75 after a painful battle with diabetes. Shelley was discovered in Texas by director Robert Altman and starred in several of his movies, including “3 Women” and “Thieves Like Us.”
She also famously portrayed Olive Oyl in the film “Popeye” alongside Robin Williams. Shelley had been under hospice care and bedridden for the last few months due to complications from diabetes. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Texas, as confirmed by her life partner, Dan Gilroy.
