I come in peace and prayer and I’m seeking support to help me to help my first born son. I am the father of Mike Williams, former NFL player. My son played in the NFL from 2010 to 2014 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and his hometown team, the Buffalo Bills. Mike Williams recently had a major accident at work. A steal beam fell on his head causing a massive head injury. As a result of this accident, there was swelling on his brain and swelling on his spinal cord that was ruptured. These injuries resulted in complete paralysis in his right arm as well as his lower body from the waist down.
On Friday, Sept 1, 2023 around 9pm Mike Williams passed out. According to doctors, he suffered from severe breathing problems and had to be rushed to ICU. This time the doctors found that his diaphragm was pressing on his lungs and subsequently caused complications with his breathing. They reported that his lungs were filled with water. The doctors were able to free the diaphragm from pressing on his lungs, removing the water and allowing him to breathe a little better. Sadly, my son Mike Williams never gained consciousness. He never woke up from the night of Sept 1, 2023 from what was reported to me as of Sept 4 2023.
reportedly, on Sunday Sept 3, 2023 he was induced and the Doctors have him on a scheduled time to try to wake him up in 3 days (God Willing).
As you can probably imagine, this is painful for me and has me distraught. I am asking those of you who watched Mike Williams, cheered for him and seen him do wonderful things on and off the field to help me. I reside in Dallas Texas and I need help with expenses to continue to travel back and forth to Tampa Florida where my son is hospitalized. I live and work in Dallas so I will be going back and forth until my son fully recovers. This is not an easy ask but the help will be sincerely appreciated.
I would like to thank each and every one of you in advance who are willing to help. I am asking all of you to lift my son up in prayer and to pray for all of his family and loved ones during this difficult time. You can contribute here and also directly to my Cash App at $wendellmuhammad . I am sincerely appreciative and thank all of you for your willingness to help me to be present to support my son during this tragedy.
Again, thank you
Wendell Muhammad
Williams was the Offensive Rookie of the Year runner-up in 2010
The Bucs picked Williams with a selection in the fourth round of the ’10 NFL Draft … and he went on to have an outstanding rookie season, finishing only behind Sam Bradford for OROY honors, according to TMZ.
He would go on to play for three more seasons in Tampa, before he was traded to the Bills in 2014. He was never able to replicate the production he had as a rookie, however, and he bounced from the league after just one year in Buffalo.
The former Syracuse standout finished his career with 3,089 receiving yards and 26 receiving touchdowns in 63 total games.
