SUMMIT COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Dr. Todd Alan Morgan, of Hudson, Ohio, has been identified as the Cleveland State University Professor found fatally shot in his Summit County home on Wednesday.

Morgan, 41, who was an assistant professor at CSU’ Monte Ahuja College of Business, was discovered suffering from multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday night in Hudson.

According to reports, police performed a welfare check at Morgan’s residence at 328 West Streetsboro Street in Hudson around 7 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, Morgan was found inside the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Morgan was pronounced dead of gunshot injuries around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Police ruled the death a homicide.

No suspect or motive information was provided.

Cleveland State University President Laura Bloomberg confirmed Morgan’s passing:

“We are deeply saddened and sorry to have lost a talented educator, friend and co-worker in such a tragic manner,” Bloomberg said in a statement. “I join the entire CSU community in sending our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues.”

“I am grateful for having graduated from Cleveland State in 2005 with my BBA and 2006 with my MBA. My professors had a profound impact on my career trajectory and why I wanted to get my Ph.D. and teach,” Todd said. “CSU holds a special place in my heart and I hope to have a similar impact on students that come to CSU.”

Todd started his career as an account representative for Unilever and then became the Senior Marketing Analyst and Data Modeler for Amerimark. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a focus in strategy and entrepreneurship from Kent State University in 2015.

Todd’s teaching career included Assistant Professor positions at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and most recently the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University. His research focuses on new product development, innovation, strategy and competitive advantage and examines how firms leverage resources, integrate external knowledge and maximize their effectiveness. He is especially focused on small- to medium-sized enterprises.

The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
