ST. HALENA PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Damarius Melvin, of Greensburg, Louisiana, has been identified as the pedestrian in a Tuesday morning fatal vehicle collision in St. Helena Parish.

Melvin, 22, was killed after he was struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning in Greensburg.

According to reports, Melvin was on-foot in the area of Highway 1043 near Carl Day Lane, when he was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Melvin was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge remained on-scene and was uninjured in the collision.

Toxicology samples were obtained from Melvin and the driver of the Dodge for analysis.

This cause of the crash remains under investigation.
